International Baccalaureate CAS

Creativity • Activity • Service

ACTIVITY
Movement is life, is freedom, is joy.

CREATIVITY

“To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.”
― Osho

SERVICE

Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't even have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve... You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love...
                                 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

CAS is a 150 hour project completed over 18 months that incorporates Creativity, Activity, and Service.  The three strands are sometimes interwoven and are always meaningul and life-changing.

  • Creativity – arts, and other experiences that involve creative thinking.

  • Activity – physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle, complementing academic work elsewhere in the DP.

  • Service – an unpaid and voluntary exchange that has a learning benefit for the student. The rights, dignity and autonomy of all those involved are respected.

CAS Projects should be challenging and engaging. CAS student show initiative, demonstrate perseverance, and demonstrate skills such as collaboration, problem solving and decision making

CAS  projects provide opportunities for self-determination and collaboration, fostering a sense of accomplishment, compassion, unity, and understanding.
